Central Oregon’s tremendous growth rate is reflected in the housing market, which has remained hot for years, no matter the swing in interest rates. Central Oregon is made up of several cities in a tri-county area: Bend, Redmond, La Pine, Madras and Prineville. Bend is the largest city in Central Oregon and the Deschutes County seat. Central Oregon cities offer friendly people, beautiful parks, great shopping areas, museums, free outdoor concerts, community theaters, the Central Oregon Symphony, great restaurants and some of the best private and public schools Oregon has to offer. Central Oregon Community College offers a 2-year degree to students who can then transfer to Oregon State University Central Oregon campus to complete their 4-year degree.
In addition, Central Oregon is known for its great recreational opportunities. Just a few short miles from Bend you have the High Cascade Lakes, Deschutes River, Newberry National Monument, Mt. Jefferson wilderness area, Smith Rocks State Park and of course, Mt. Bachelor, one of the premier skiing destinations in the U.S.
Besides being known as a recreational paradise, Central Oregon offers a wide variety of team sports. The individual towns are proud of their high school teams and give them community support. The local television station carries the local football games on Friday nights so those who cannot make it to the stadium can watch the games at home.
